Never would I think of putting an avocado in a smoothie.
Martha Stewart didn’t just think it, she did it. Providing yet more proof that she is a goddess among mortals.
Her Avocado-Banana smoothie is similarly out of this world. And while I’m no culinary visionary, I at least have enough common sense to know that this one was a recipe worth sharing.
The players: an avocado, a banana, two oranges, half a cup of greek yogurt, ice, and honey to taste.
Throw it all in a blender and blend.
The one alteration that I did, and this was thanks to my sis Kate, was to use whole oranges instead of bothering with juicing them first. Not only does it save time, it also helps make the smoothies more filling. Besides, a little pulp never hurt anyone.
And there you have it. Creamy, healthy, satisfying smoothies that are a little weird, but in a totally yes-this-works way. They’ll even help you out of your strawberry-banana rut. So try it for yourself and be reminded once again of the genius that is Martha Stewart.
