Blogging-Wisdom

I’m playing a little bit of recipe-catchup still from my trip, so I have to skip this week’s Fryday post for some blogging tips instead.

Last time around, I shared some WordPress-plugin recommendations that were all business. This time it’s all about pleasure. Here are a few of my favorite eye-catching tools:

  • Instagram for WordPress – Anyone with an Instagram account should add this widget to their sidebar, because it’s just about the easiest way to add a little bit of flair to your site. Follow the easy step-by-step instructions for linking your profile, pick a size for the display, number of latest photos to rotate through, picture duration, and you’ll be good to go.
  • Related Posts Thumbnails – Once you get a reader to your blog, the next challenge is getting them to stay. For that I rely on the Related Posts Thumbnails plugin. Organized by tags, the plugin takes out all of the guesswork and displays relevant posts for you. Like these fried pickle chips? Perhaps you’ll like these fried risotto balls too. Bonus: plenty of different ways to customize the plugin to work for you.
  • Recipe Card – Recipe Card is what I use to display my recipes. There are so many other options out there, but this one worked best for my aesthetic, because the look is fully customizable. The best part is it requires absolutely no knowledge of coding, and with all of the different fonts, layouts and colors options the possibilities are endless.

That’ll do it for this installment of Blogging Wisdom. You can read all of my tips here. If all goes as planned, I’ll be back to my regular blogging schedule next week, including a Fryday post that I’m quite excited about. Have a great weekend.
