It was on Friday morning at Bloomberg’s The Year Ahead Conference here in Washington, DC. Martha was in attendance and I was there to field produce our television coverage. I don’t usually get starstruck (with the other exception of meeting the Obamas) and prefer to “play it cool,” but as soon as I spotted her, I knew I had to make an introduction. The only thing standing in my way was the sweat that suddenly attacked my usually dry hands, so after waiting a few minutes to calm down, I made my move.
I said something like, “Hi-I’m-Yang-I-love-you-You’re-my-hero-I-bake-and-have-a-blog-inspired-by-you.” She then did the unthinkable and asked me to write the address down for her. So I did, hand and pen shaking.
Now, I fully realize she was just doing it out of kindness and likely never gave it a look, but the fact that I even got to tell her about it, and to then hear the great Martha Stewart repeat the words “Fortune Goodies” was a dream come true.
The days since then have been a lot less eventful and productive (lazy Saturday and up in New York for work on Sunday), so I’ll just leave you with well wishes for the new week and this prized new photo of mine. Happy Monday!
