Homemade Pizza Rolls
I really really don’t like this picture. I’m embarrassed and hear nails on a chalkboard just looking at it. But as I was making these homemade Pizza Rolls for a potluck party last night, I knew right away that they would be a crowd-pleaser, and they proved to be so good and  so easy to make that I knew that even with the unfortunate photographs (hello early sunsets), I had to share what I’d done. I mean, you guys, they’re homemade pizza rolls!

Plus, requests for more have already been made, so I’ll be swapping out these pictures for better ones real soon. I better.

Pizza Roll Ingredients
To make Pizza Rolls yourself, you’ll need: mozzarella string-cheese sticks, wonton wrappers, pepperoni slices (I used the healthier turkey variety), Italian seasoning, water for sealing the wrappers, and vegetable oil for frying.

Cutting cheese for Pizza Rolls

First things first, heat about an inch and a half of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. You’ll know it’s hot enough when the temperature reaches 350 degrees or dash of flour in the oil sizzles and spits back.

As that heats, cut up the mozzarella sticks that you plan on using into thirds.

FYI, you can use this recipe to make as little or as many of these pizza rolls as you please. I made about 20 pizza rolls and used 20 wrappers, 7 cheese sticks and 40 slices of pepperoni.

On a wonton wrapper, layer two slices of pepperoni and top with a piece of the string cheese.

For a little something extra, add a sprinkling of Italian seasoning.

And that’s all it takes for the filling!

Rolling Pizza Rolls
To begin the wrapping process, orient the wrapper so that the corners are in a diamond shape.

Pull the bottom corner of wrapper toward the middle and tuck under the cheese and pepperoni.

Next, wet both side corners and fold them over the middle, wetting the tops once again if they’re having trouble sticking.

Freshly Rolled Pizza Rolls
For the last wrapping step, wet the top corner and roll it over the entire roll and wet that final corner once more if needed.

Repeat and repeat and repeat until you’ve rolled enough to serve seconds, because people will want seconds.

Working a few at a time, fry pizza rolls until the wrapper is golden brown and crispy, about 4 to 5 minutes, turning as needed with tongs.

When ready, transfer freshly fried Pizza Rolls to a paper towel-lined plate to drain, and repeat the frying process until all of your rolls are fried and cooked.

Homemade Pizza Rolls

Serve warm and dipped in store-bought pizza sauce.

Just like that you can make homemade Pizza Rolls that might even be better than the Totino’s frozen original. This was truly one of the best and easiest things to fry, so please give it a try if you can.

I actually published all of my usual posts this week and I feel really great about that. It’s the little things. I hope you feel similarly accomplished and happy with yourself. Have a great weekend!

P.S. On our nearly bare registry, I’m asking for a real-deal deep-fryer. I’m overwhelmed by all of the options. Can’t wait!
