Hello there! So I realize last week’s plan for regular blogging didn’t quite go as I’d hoped, but I’m back today with a fun little video to make up for it. Brian and I spent both Memorial Day weekend and this past weekend in Cleveland so I thought it’d be nice to put together a home video highlighting what the city has to offer.

Believe it or not, one of the most common reactions I get when I tell people I’m getting married in Cleveland is, “Ugh! Why?” I get it. Cleveland doesn’t have the best reputation, but I hope this video shines a new light on Brian’s beloved city that I’ve come to know and love myself. We’re really excited to be getting married there (exactly two months from today!) and hope our guests will feel the same way.

P.S. I apologize in advance for my horrible moon-walk attempt.

Yang and Brian Engagement Pictures{Chagrin Falls – photography by the talented Kayla of Full Bloom Photography}

Well, well, well. Look who decided to show up on her own blog again after going AWOL for six weeks. The nerve.

Gulp. Six weeks. I can’t believe it’s been that long since I last posted, but I really needed the time away. Because as great of a multitasker as I’d like to think I am, between moving to a new city, adjusting to a new job, planning for a wedding (almost two months away, ah!), getting in shape for said wedding (two months! what was I doing earlier?!), house hunting, and traveling nearly every weekend, my plate’s been beyond full. Those first two weeks after I moved, when I tried to stay on top of blogging, this little corner of the internet that I’ve spent so long making my own started to feel more like a burden than a blessing. That was when I knew I needed a break, cold-turkey style.

Truth be told, I don’t feel any more organized or together than I did at the start of my hiatus. In fact, our apartment is in an even bigger mess than it ever was before (thank you, wedding invitations that still need stuffing). But I’ve stayed away long enough and found myself missing sharing the little details and recipes that get me going. That’s when I knew it was time to come back, so here I am again. Let’s give this another shot.

To mark my return, I’m excited to share a look at the better-late-than-never engagement session Brian and I had with our wedding photographer Kayla when we were in Cleveland last weekend. It felt a little silly taking these pictures so late in the game, but when we tried taking them last fall, I discovered that “fall” in Cleveland is the dead of winter anywhere else, so last weekend it was. Kayla’s beautiful handiwork after the jump.

Cleveland Food Guide - Panini's{Panini’s Famous Overstuffed Sandwich}

The term “panini” typically refers to a pressed and toasted sandwich. In Cleveland, the word takes on quite a different meaning.

Pa·ni·ni [pah-nee-nee]
1. An overstuffed sandwich piled high with cole slaw, hand-cut fries, tomato, melted provolone and choice of meat, wedged between thick slices of italian bread.
2. My new favorite sandwich.

Your eyes do not deceive you. French fries. In a sandwich. The Cleveland Panini is a specialty that should not be missed, and is the topic of today’s food guide. I’m on a real Midwestern streak (you can check out my Indianapolis post here). What can I say? America’s heartland’s got some great eats.
