In my humble opinion, China makes some of the best breads and cakes, but pies not so much. McDonald’s does sell taro pies, but I’m not a fan.
That’s why I’m so very much craving some pie like this peach one here. It’s one of the many things I’m looking forward to baking when I return and have an entire month off from school. Heaven.
I’ve spent just about a month of my summer in China. Think about all the summer pies, trips to the pool and popsicles I’ve missed out on. One word: staggering. I’ve got lots of catching up to do, but enough about my perpetual state of behindness, recipe info after the jump.
This past weekend was a particularly difficult one. Time that I would have liked to spend at the pool and in the kitchen were spent sitting at a desk working on a never-ending class project for my upcoming trip to China. As always, I went into the weekend full of ambition thinking I could do it all. Hours and hours of homework? No problem! Baking for the blog too? You bet! Man, was I wrong.
Something had to give and this time the homework beat out the baking. So to make up for it I’m leaving you with this delicious recipe from the vault*: lemon supreme pie.
For this week’s throwback, we’re talking donuts, also known as doughnuts to you fancy people. Donuts are my weakness, and depending on how you look at it, it’s either very lucky or sad that the Krispy Kreme store sits on the opposite side of Dupont Circle, just far enough that I rarely make my way there.
This next part is sad and that’s really the only one way of looking it. Can you believe that I’ve only made these amazingly easy chocolatey mini donuts once? as in not over and over again? I don’t want you to, but it’s true. I’m not sure what I was thinking.
