I’m back in the good ol’ USofA after a week with family in Inner Mongolia, China mourning and celebrating the life of my Nainai. It was an incredible experience best summed up with the words humbling, exhausting and LOVE in all caps. No words or pictures can do the last week justice, but here are a few snapshots anyway. I’ll share more pictures and stories at a later time.
I’m always a little sad when I leave China, and this last trip back was especially hard, but it’s good to be back nonetheless.

The world lost its most beautiful person when my grandmother passed away late Monday night.
Her story is a remarkable one that ended much too suddenly and too soon. It’s a story that needs to be told, but one I’m not yet ready to share.
I’m now on my way back to Inner Mongolia, China, where I was just three months ago under very different circumstances, and won’t be posting until I return next week.

Here are some pictures from our weekend in my beautiful home state of Colorado. My favorite moments: playing tourist with Brian, the Celestial Seasonings tour, dancing the night away at a friend’s wedding, dim sum with my family, and a Rockies game with my brother. I had a fantastic time, as always, and am already counting down the days until my next visit.

This week’s pic me up features snapshots from the incredible L.A. and Vegas trip that Brian and I took back in February. We had a great time surveying the many sights (like Disneyland!), took in a few shows (Icona Pop & Cirque du Soleil), and enjoyed some fantastic food (In-N-Out). And we did it all driving in our rented white Mustang convertible. Life was good.
This weekend, we’ll try to recapture those same feelings in my home state of Colorado, minus the sweet ride. I absolutely cannot wait and am thrilled the week is halfway over. Happy Hump Day!

In lieu of a baking post this Friday, I thought I’d share a short video instead. It’s just a little something something I put together to commemorate recent trips to Lake Anna, Charlottesville and Monticello. I spoke a little bit about how much I love it there in this post, and I’m really happy I now have this video reminder.
We’ll be trading the lake for the beach this weekend, and if the weather cooperates, sadly it might not, I could have another one of these videos up my sleeve.
